Emily Update - 10 days old!

Hey everyone! Emily continues to do really well! They've decreased her oxygen levels once again, good thing too because she HATES having that thing in her nose =) Also, her jaundice is MUCH better and today they've taken her off the light...YAY!! No more glow worm! They've increased her food, as they've done for the past several days. She continues to show her feisty personality and strong will...traits I'm so thankful she seems to have. She was ready to be born, she's just trying to prove that to all of us! Mike and I are so grateful to everyone for your continued thoughts and prayers!

Day 6

Kelly getting to bond with Emily!!
I changed my first poopy diaper ever!!

The attached pictures are from Monday ( Day 5). Emily was allowed out of her incubator for the first time. Kelly was able to spend two hours for some much anticipated bonding. We had a great night!!!!! I even got excited to change a diaper.

Day 6 - Emily is back on her blue lights for jaundice. Her food and oxygen are staying the same. The results of her ultrasound showed a small bleed in her brain. The docs say that this is very normal for her development age and not to be worried. Apparently they dont understand, of course, we are worried!! Thanks to everyone for keeping Emily and us in your thoughts and prayers. Pictures to follow after our visit tonight.

Welcome!

Emily Paige O'Connell was born on June 29, 2010. She was a cool 3 lbs. 2 oz. at her early, though much anticipated, birth. A born fighter, she continues to shout her fierce cry in the NICU at University Hospital. She's breathing and flailing and generally saving her energy for the trouble she intends to cause her parents in the near future.
